To Kinky, Women's Rights Are A Joke

When asked about women's rights, Kinky says "I'm not pro-life, and I'm not pro-choice. I'm pro-football!" That's not funny to the many Texans who consider this a serious issue. Texas imposes some of the nation's harshest restrictions on women's reproductive rights, and this freedom of choice is the right of the people, and not the business of the government.

Here is an excerpt from the Kinky interview on CNN:

BURKHARDT: As for other issue, his positions are a little hazier. Take abortion.

FRIEDMAN: And I'm not pro-life, and I'm not pro choice. I'm pro football!

BURKHARDT: Now that's evasive, man, that's evasive.

Either Kinky has started referring to himself in the third person or you are quoting someone else who is trying to tell you what Kinky feels about abortion.

Here are the words from Kinky's own words from his own mouth as reported on his own website: "I'm not pro-choice" Kinky's website

Why did you lift just those three words from the quote, which is "I'm not pro-choice, I'm not pro-life, I'm pro-football."
This was a joke.

Also Kinky's Website

This is his stance. The difference is clear.

Seriously though, why didn't you include the whole quote?

Nathan,

You ask, "why didn't you include the whole quote?" Maybe you neglected to read the original post, but I DID include the whole quote. Also, I provided a link so you could check it out for yourself if you wanted. I can only give you the information, but I can't make you think.

You say, "This was a joke." This is not news to me. Again, if you read the original post, you may note that it is entitled "To Kinky, Women's Rights Are A Joke" and the point is that when asked a serious question, Kinky wouldn't answer the question and turned it into a joke instead. That's not funny. From a candidate, I want a straight answer to a serious question, not a joke.

Kinky was asked in several interviews by several different reporters whether he supported a woman's reproductive rights, and Kinky ducked the question every time with the same joke: "I'm not pro-life, and I'm not pro choice. I'm pro football."

It was only AFTER some of the media started calling Kinky out on this bullshit that he FINALLY took a stand on this issue but only because he was getting pressure for being evasive.

I don't want a governor who won't tell the people where he stands on important issues, and I don't want a governor who waits to decide where he stands on important issues only when he gets pressure to quit being evasive.

First, here's your words in the 2nd comment on this post:

"Here are the words from Kinky's own words from his own mouth as reported on his own website: 'I'm not pro-choice'"
Not even a little misleading?

Second, about the other stuff, got any links?

When you ask, "got any links?" it makes me wonder if you don't know how links work or if you are being deliberately obtuse. I'll assume that you are confused and not being disingenuous.

You'll notice that there are parts of the text which are a different color from the rest of the text, and when you pass your cursor over this different-colored text, you'll notice that your cursor arrow turns into a hand with a pointing finger. If you click the left button on your mouse while your cursor is on this different-colored text, you will be automatically transferred to the source for my statements. That's how a link works.

When you ask "got any links?" the answer is "yes, lots of 'em."

Alternatively, if you don't trust my links, here is how you can confirm these facts for yourself: Go to Google.com and run these three searches: (1) Kinky "I'm not pro-choice" (2) "Kinky is not anti-death-penalty" (3) "Friedman voted in the 2004 presidential general election but not in any other contest since 1994."

Each of these searches will confirm that there are many sources for each of my statements (including Kinky's own website for the first two statements).

Nathan, I'm afraid that Kinky is not the person you think he is. Please do some research to see if Kinky agrees with your beliefs about important issues and try to keep an open mind about the other candidates.

Get a sense of humor before you try to undermine and twist the words of a HUMORIST.

And don't tell us to go do research, that's a cheap cop-out on your part.
