Kinky's Vote for Bush/Cheney '04

Kinky Friedman has voted just once in the last 12 years, and that was when he voted for Bush/Cheney in 2004. Kinky explained, "I was for Bush in 2004 ... he's a good man." Kinky has also run (unsuccessfully) for public office as a Republican in the past. How is he an "independent" candidate?

He voted for Gore in 2000 (link to interview), and campaigned for Ann Richards.

Also came across this:
Kinky and Clinton

I'm glad you posted a link to that interview because it confirms that KINKY LIED ABOUT WHO HE VOTED FOR IN 2000.

According to Kerr County voting records, Friedman voted in the 2004 presidential general election but not in any other contest since 1994.

I guess this comes down to a "who you gonna believe" kind of thing. The story you link to refers to a story that was originally published in the Dallas Morning News (google it).

If you believe Kinky lied about this then you won't believe anything else he says either. You can just dismiss it as more of his lies.

This would be easy, of course, if he had a history of lying.

No, it doesn't come down to "who you gonna believe."

First, perhaps you are not aware of this, but every voter is registered to vote in only one location. For Kinky it's in Kerr County. How you vote is not public information, but whether or not you vote is. It is a matter of public record that Kinky did not vote in 2000 as he falsely claimed.

Also, if you read the Dallas Morning News story, you will see that Kinky was confronted about his voting record by the DMN reporter and Kinky didn't deny the facts established by the Kerr County voting records.
